Meet Harold 👋

The guy behind some of the craziest ideas you’ll find at Croff.

He has one simple philosophy…

“If it’s good… how can we make it even better?”

So naturally, he looked at fried chicken and thought…

“What if we made it even crispier?” 🤔

Introducing our new 🍜 Ramen Fried Chicken Focaccia.

Extra crispy ramen-crusted fried chicken, house-made focaccia, and a whole lot of crunch.

This is just one of the many new dishes we’re bringing to our brunch menu, and we’d love to know what you think.

👇 Be honest… would you order this?

Or if you had one crazy brunch idea, what would it be?

This is probably one of the hardest videos I’ve made as a business owner.

Admitting that something isn’t working is never easy.

After six weeks, our brunch menu is making up less than 18% of our total sales. We could keep hoping things will change… or we can listen, adapt and build something better.

So that’s exactly what we’re doing.

We’re replacing almost our entire brunch menu with dishes that are bigger, bolder and (hopefully!) worth making the trip for.

Now I need your honest opinion.

👇 If you saw these dishes, would you come for brunch?

👇 Which new dish would you order first?

👇 Or tell me… what’s ONE brunch dish every great café should have?

We read every comment, and your feedback genuinely helps us create a better menu.

Let’s build a brunch menu that Perth actually wants. 🤍

Honest question...

Should a small business get the opportunity to fix a problem before receiving a one-star review?

As business owners, we know we’re not perfect.

We make mistakes.

Sometimes service is slower than expected.
Sometimes an order isn’t right.
Sometimes we simply have an off day.

When we know about it, we’ll always try our best to make it right.

But when a one-star review is left with no explanation, we lose the opportunity to learn what actually happened.

The review stays there.
Future customers see it.
But we never get the chance to improve the experience for that customer.

At the same time, I completely understand that customers have every right to leave an honest review if they genuinely had a bad experience.

So I’m genuinely curious...

👇 If you’ve had a bad experience at a small business, would you contact the owner first or go straight to Google?

👇 Business owners do you think google reviews have too much influence over small business?

And if you’ve ever visited us and enjoyed your experience, thank you. Every kind review, recommendation and word of mouth genuinely helps small businesses like ours more than you probably realise. 🤍

One of the biggest surprises when opening a new store?

Not knowing whether you’ll be too quiet or too busy.

Most people worry about not having enough customers.

What nobody talks about is what happens when you get more customers than expected.

Suddenly you’re trying to:
🥐 make more products
👨‍🍳 roster more staff
📦 order more stock
☕ maintain service standards
😅 and somehow keep everything running smoothly

The first few weeks are all about learning.

For us, that meant adjusting production, changing rosters, refining systems and constantly reviewing how the team was coping.

One lesson we’ve learned over the years:

Good service is expensive.
Bad service is even more expensive.

Looking back, we definitely underestimated how busy our new flagship store would be.

It’s created challenges, but honestly, that’s a much better problem to have than an empty store.

For the business owners out there:

What surprised you most when you first opened your business?

One of the biggest mistakes I see new cafe owners make?

Skipping the soft opening.

Even on our THIRD store, we’ve spent the last few days finding things that needed fixing before Grand Opening.

Not major issues.

The little operational things that only show up when real customers start walking through the door.

That’s exactly what a soft opening is for.

To test your systems.
To train your team.
To find the problems before your customers do 😭

It got me thinking…

For those who have opened a business before:

👇 Did you do a soft opening?

👇 What went wrong on your Grand Opening?

👇 What would you do differently if you had to do it all again?

After months of planning, building, baking and preparing, we’re finally almost there 🤍
