Tread lightly Tuesday: Did you know Australians use an estimated 1.84 billion single-use cups every year?
Reusable cups take more resources to produce than disposable cups. As a comparison, ceramic cups must be reused 39 times, plastic cups 17 times and glass cups 15 times to match the energy efficiency of plastic-lined paper cups. So if you opt for a reusable cup, best to use it often and for a long time. Using cups you already have or borrowing a Huskee Cup from our library is ideal.
If a takeaway cup is the best option at the time, they can be home composted or recycled through resmartco.
resmartco arrange the cups to be processed for the manufacturing industry to be used for things like roads and lightweight concrete.

Faces of Mirror Park: meet Ringo! Beautiful Ringo the dingo was out and about on a stunning Saturday morning, cruising in his kombi, stopping in for a coffee and treat. Life doesn’t get much better than that, does it?! 🐾

Tread lightly Tuesday: by buying our milk from brownesdairy, we are able to return empty bottles to them for recycling. ♻️
Empty bottles are collected with the next delivery and then compacted to prepare them for recycling. 🥛
The compacted bottles are then collected and transported to the SMRC Recycling Facility in Canning Vale. With an impressive 85% diversion rate from landfill, SMRC helps ensure our bottles are responsibly processed and given a new life through recycling and repurposing initiatives. 🚚

Tread lightly Tuesday: after many years of daily use, some of our HuskeeCups were needing replacing. So, into our resmartco bags they went where they will be recycled into handy dog bowls. Love a circular economy! ♻️ 🌱 🌏

Bread orders are open again for Saturday. The olive ciabatta 🫒 🍞 has been a favourite at the park - try it with scrambled eggs for a delicious weekend brunch. 😋
It’s a busy week for us this week with a few events and perthmakersmarket on Sunday, so we’ll look forward to them and lovely mornings at the park.
Perth Makers Market is on 9:30-3:30pm at the beautiful Heathcote Reserve, Applecross.

Just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for a lovely day last Saturday. We have such a special community here at Mirror Park and Ocean Reef/Mullaloo.
Special thanks to Jess and Steph for all their work creating the beautiful flower posies, and to Harrison for baking the delicious cookies.

Next Saturday is going to be special. As a lovely Mother’s Day treat, our son Harrison is going to be baking for us 😋 and our daughter in law, Jess, is creating some gorgeous flower posies for sale. 🌸
