The tradition of the 12 uvas de la suerte🤞🏼
Eating 12 grapes at midnight on New Year’s Eve is a tradition that originated in Spain and is celebrated in many Latin American and Caribbean countries. The tradition is known as las doce uvas de la suerte, which translates to “the twelve grapes of luck”.
Here’s how the tradition works:
Eat one grape with each of the twelve clock bell strikes at midnight on December 31.
Each grape represents one of the twelve months of the coming year.
If you eat all the grapes in time, you’ll have a year of good luck and prosperity.
You must finish eating all 12 grapes before the clock strikes 12:00 or your wishes won’t come true.
Some say that eating grapes under the table while popping them can also boost your love life for the coming year.
