Complete the Trial: Let the Community Have a Say on the Palmyra Farmers Market

As many of you now know, on Friday we were informed that our five-week trial at Geo Thompson Park has been cut short following a noise complaint.

After notifying our stallholders, the news quickly spread through local community groups — and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support for our market and the wonderful community that surrounds it.

A community petition has now been started in support of keeping Palmyra Farmers Market at Geo Thompson Park, following our hugely successful first Sunday at the new location last week.

We are committed to working constructively with our community and the City of Melville to address any concerns and make the market work successfully for everyone, at Geo Thompson Park.

We believe the five-week trial needs to continue so that we can properly assess the market's impact and gather meaningful, evidence-based information to inform a decision about its future. One Sunday simply isn't enough time to understand the benefits, impacts and opportunities of the market in this location.

Last Sunday showed us just how much potential Geo Thompson Park has. The response from the local community was overwhelmingly positive — customers stayed longer, families relaxed under the trees, and our four-legged friends were able to join us again. 🐶🌳

After a challenging few years for the market, it was wonderful to see such a positive atmosphere and a renewed sense of community.

And importantly, our stallholders are small, often family-run businesses. They turn up week after week, rain hail or shine, making and growing their products, serving our community and working hard to make a living. When you shop at the market, you’re directly supporting local families and helping these small businesses thrive. 💚

URGENT NEWS!! Many of our producers have had their other markets cancel, so they are coming in on Sunday with a ton of produce!

We are so fortunate at Palmyra Western Farmers Markets to have access to a large undercover area so our market can continue to trade in inclement weather.

The The Peoples Produce and Joe & Rosa still have seasonal veg they have to harvest, Little Farm Eggs offered their chookies a day off, but the girls kept laying, and Allington Family Farm's usual Sunday spot has been cancelled…. So they are joining us with their incredible pastured raised meat.

Fred will be serving Coffee, piping hot gozleme and breakfast burgers will be on the barbie – so come and join us, it will be an adventure!!

To reach the food stall/stand, take the public transport to Perth Train Station. From there, walk towards Elizabeth Quay Bus Station and catch bus number 950 to Hillarys Boat Harbour. Get off at Warwick Station and the food stall/stand should be within walking distance.

Alternatively, if you are driving, head north on Mitchell Freeway and take exit 76 towards Beach Road. Turn right onto Beach Road and continue straight until you reach Warwick Road. Turn left onto Warwick Road and then turn right onto Wanneroo Road. The food stall/stand should be on your left-hand side. There is a parking lot available nearby.
