Great families help shape a wine region once. The Pannells have done it twice...
In 1969, Bill and Sandra Pannell planted Moss Wood and helped set Margaret River on its course. Then, in 1993, they went again, heading south to the cool, high, ocean-tempered Southern Forests around Pemberton, a corner of Western Australia few had backed for serious wine. There they founded Picardy, and Bill has made the wines alongside his son Dan ever since, always with Burgundy in the back of their minds.
Everything under the family’s labels is grown on the estate, dry-farmed, hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard before it reaches the winery among the vines. It is winemaking with nothing standing between the site and the glass, and exactly the kind of grower wine we go out of our way to find.

The biggest run of tastings we have staged in a single month.
Six events across three consecutive weekends. Stuart Pym opens with Flowstone this Saturday, then Larry Cherubino, Matthew Jukes' Winery of the Year and the IWSC's Outstanding Wine Producer 2023, presents fourteen of his finest in person on Sunday.
The following weekend brings sixteen of Australia's most awarded grenaches in one line-up, and Ben Cane launches the Duke's 2026 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling. We close the month with sixteen of the country's best pinot noirs, and a Sunday of Domaine Naturaliste with Bruce Dukes.

The French and Italian container
lands this week, bringing 900 dozen wines from 15 producers! We opened 10 of the wines at Cottesloe over the weekend, and JJ tasted and scored each one. Here are the standouts, together with the full pre-arrival offer.
Once a year we go to Europe, taste with the growers, and bring home a container of the wines we’d want to drink ourselves. As the shipment nears, we open the Indent Offer: en primeur pricing, sharply reduced, in exchange for paying before the wines land in Cottesloe.
Order from any producer page on our website, or use the request form, where every producer and wine on the shipment sits on one page.
Pre-arrival pricing closes Friday 7 August. Submit your selections now and we will confirm availability, payment and delivery once the container clears.

Thirteen events in thirty-one days. This is August at Lamont’s.
Three winemakers are crossing the country and six more are coming up from the south, each to host their own table. A Master of Wine is leading us through benchmark Barolo and Barbaresco. Museum Henschke comes out of the family cellar for twelve guests, and JJ presents his two great Australian showcases, Grenache and Pinot Noir.
