Tales of Origin | Specialty Estate | August Release | Sulawesi, Indonesia
From Panaikang Village in South Sulawesi’s Gowa Regency, this washed Typica microlot comes from Yolan Tirta, a third-generation coffee producer helping revive specialty coffee in the region.
Rather than the deep, earthy profile many people associate with Indonesian coffee, this release offers something cleaner, brighter, and more fruit-driven. In the cup, expect cola, fresh apple, and blueberry compote, balanced by tangy acidity and a smooth, syrupy sweetness that lingers beautifully.
The Story Behind This Cup:
A Brighter Sulawesi
This coffee shows a different side of Sulawesi. The washed process helps bring out a cleaner and more refined profile, allowing the fruit notes, tangy acidity, and syrupy body to shine without losing the comforting depth Indonesian coffees are known for.
Washed Processing
After harvest, the coffee is depulped, fermented, washed clean, and carefully dried to preserve clarity, sweetness, and structure. In a humid region like South Sulawesi, this takes careful management, with drying stations and greenhouse drying helping improve consistency across the lot.
Producer-Led Progress
Yolan Tirta is a third-generation coffee producer who has played an important role in strengthening specialty coffee in South Sulawesi. Since founding his mill in 2016, Yolan has focused on better processing, improved infrastructure, and creating stronger opportunities for local farmers to access the specialty market.
Indonesia, Reimagined
For those who know Indonesian coffees as bold, earthy, and heavy-bodied, this release brings a refreshing twist. It still has body and sweetness, but with a brighter fruit profile and a cleaner finish that makes it feel lively and layered.
